Transactions
Edit, delete, and review transactions
A ledger on the Transactions tab lists an account's transactions by date, oldest first, with a running Balance column. Every change you make updates the balances of both accounts in the transaction.
Edit a transaction
- On the Transactions tab, choose the asset or liability account in View transactions for.
- Click the transaction's row. It turns into an edit row.
- Change the date, check number, description, amount, other account, or tags.
- Press Enter or click the save icon. Press Esc or click the cancel icon to leave it unchanged.
To fix a transaction you spotted under an income, expense, or equity account, use the Account Ledgers view described below. Its Edit button opens the entry in the ledger of the asset or liability account on the other side.
Delete a transaction
- Click the transaction's row to open it for editing.
- Click the trash can icon at the end of the row.
- Click Delete in the Delete Transaction dialog.
Deleting can't be undone.
Reorder transactions on the same day
When several transactions share a date, you can set their order. Drag a row by the handle at its left edge and drop it on another row with the same date. You can only reorder within one date. The running balance follows the new order.
Account Ledgers view
In View transactions for, choose Account Ledgers under Views. It lists every account that has activity, grouped by type, with Total Debits, Total Credits, and Accounts with Activity at the top.
- Set Start Date and End Date to limit the period.
- Click an account to show its entries, or use Expand All and Collapse All.
- Each entry has an Edit button that opens it in the transactions view for editing. Entries can't be changed inside the ledgers view itself.
Clicking an equity, income, or expense account's name on the Accounts tab opens this view with that account expanded.
General Journal view
Choose General Journal under Views to see every transaction in the matter in one list, with From (Credit) and To (Debit) columns. Set Start Date and End Date to filter it. Cards at the top show Total Amount, Transaction Count, and Date Range.
