Reports
Export a report to PDF, Excel, or CSV
Every report on the Reports tab can be exported. The export matches the report on screen.
Steps
- Open the matter, click the Reports tab, and choose a report.
- Set its dates and options. See Run a report.
- In the side panel, click Export.
- Choose PDF, Excel, or CSV.
The file downloads to your computer, and a message confirms it, for example PDF exported successfully.
What each format contains
All three formats use the report's name, subtitle, dates, Show zero value accounts setting, and collapse state. Report descriptions appear under their accounts. The collapse arrows do not.
- PDF. A formatted document on US Letter pages, with page numbers, ready to print or file.
- Excel. An .xlsx workbook with the report's rows, account indents, and totals. Amounts are stored as numbers, not text.
- CSV. A plain comma-separated text file with the report's rows, for importing into other software.
The Tagged Transactions report exports its tag groups, transactions, and subtotals in the same three formats.
File names
A file is named after the matter and the report, joined by an underscore. Spaces and punctuation become underscores. For example, the Inventory Report for Estate of Jane Smith downloads as Estate_of_Jane_Smith_Inventory_Report.pdf.
To change the report part of the name, change the Report Name before you export. See Customize and save report settings.
If the export button is unavailable
Export stays disabled until the report's data has loaded. If an export fails, you see Failed to export report. Try again after the report finishes loading.
