Billing
Plans, trials, and current matters
Billing is per workspace. Every plan includes the same features. Plans differ only in how many current matters the workspace can have.
Plans
- Basic. Up to 10 current matters. $49 a month, or $489 a year.
- Pro. Up to 25 current matters. $99 a month, or $989 a year.
- Firm. Up to 50 current matters. $199 a month, or $1,989 a year.
Firm subscribers can add capacity in blocks of 25 current matters for $50 a month per block. Each block raises the workspace's limit by 25.
These are the prices on the public pricing page. The Plan & Billing page shows the plans and prices for your workspace.
Free trial
A workspace's first plan starts with a 14-day free trial. You are not charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel any time during the trial.
A new workspace has no plan, so nobody can create matters in it until an owner or admin chooses one. The matters list shows a notice about this, and for owners and admins the Create Matter button reads Choose a Plan. See Change plans and manage billing.
What counts as a current matter
- Every open matter.
- Every closed matter that was closed within the last 120 days.
Deleted matters don't count. Closing a matter doesn't free a slot right away. It stops counting 120 days after the day it was closed. Reopening a closed matter makes it count again.
Plan & Billing shows how many current matters the workspace has out of its limit.
When you reach the limit
Creating a matter is blocked, and the form shows Matter Limit Reached. Owners and admins get an Upgrade Plan button. Other members are asked to contact an owner or admin. Owners and admins also see a banner on the matters list once the workspace uses 80 percent or more of its limit. You can dismiss it.
To make room, you can:
- Upgrade to a plan with a higher limit.
- On the Firm plan, add capacity.
- Wait for closed matters to pass 120 days since closing.
- Permanently delete matters you no longer need. Deleting can't be undone. See Find, edit, close, and delete matters.
If the subscription isn't active
If the trial ends without a subscription, or the subscription is canceled or past due, the workspace and its matters stay available but creating new matters is blocked until an owner or admin restores the subscription. If a payment goes unpaid or the first payment never completes, a notice covers the workspace with a button to fix the payment.
