Billing
Change plans and manage billing
Billing lives on the Plan & Billing page. Only workspace owners and admins can open it. Go to Workspace Settings, then Plan & Billing.
Choose your first plan
- On Plan & Billing, under Choose Your Plan, pick a plan.
- Choose Monthly or Annual billing. Annual is selected at first.
- Click Continue to Checkout. Stripe Checkout opens.
- Complete checkout. You return to Plan & Billing.
Your first plan starts with a 14-day free trial. See Plans, trials, and current matters.
Change your plan
- On Plan & Billing, click Change Plan.
- Pick a plan, and Monthly or Annual billing.
- Click the review button, which names your pick, for example Review change to Firm.
- The Confirm plan change dialog shows your current and new plan, the amount Due today, and your Next invoice.
- Click the confirm button, for example Switch to Firm. If the change charges your card now, the button starts with Pay and shows the amount due today.
The new plan takes effect right away. How it is charged depends on the change:
- During a trial, nothing is charged.
- Moving up a tier charges the prorated difference for the rest of the billing period immediately. If the card is declined, the workspace stays on its old plan and the message says why.
- Moving down a tier credits the unused time against your next invoice. The credit is not refunded to your card.
You can't move to a plan whose limit is lower than the workspace's current matter count. The dialog shows the plan's limit and your count.
Update payment, view invoices, or cancel
- Click Manage Subscription on Plan & Billing to open Stripe's billing portal. There you can update the payment method, view invoices, or cancel.
- Billing History on Plan & Billing lists past invoices with their date, status, and amount, and a Download link for each invoice's PDF.
Who can do this
Owners and admins. Users don't see Plan & Billing. If a user tries to create a matter while billing blocks it, they are asked to contact an owner or admin. See Workspace roles and permissions.
